How Pyroxasulfone Works

Pyroxasulfone targets germinating weeds before emergence, blocking the synthesis of very-long-chain fatty acids (VLCFAs)—critical building blocks for cell membranes in developing seedlings. This leads to arrested root and shoot formation, preventing weeds from establishing.

Unlike post-emergence herbicides, Pyroxasulfone acts in the soil zone, making it highly effective for pre-plant, pre-emergence, or early post-emergence programs. Classified under HRAC Group K3, it is especially valuable in managing resistant biotypes, including those resistant to ALS, glyphosate, or ACCase inhibitors.
