Mode of Action

Dimethacarb exerts dual action as:

• Contact poison: Penetrates insect cuticle on direct contact

• Stomach poison: Effective when ingested by feeding pests

• Limited systemic activity: Shows partial translaminar movement

The compound irreversibly inhibits acetylcholinesterase, causing:

1. Nerve impulse disruption

2. Paralysis within 1-2 hours

3. Death within 4-24 hours
