Cyanamide, also known as aminocyano, is a versatile chemical compound widely used as an intermediate in pharmaceuticals, agrochemicals, and health supplements. It plays a key role in the synthesis of:
- Cytarabine hydrochloride (anticancer drug)
- 3-Amino-5-mercapto-1,2,4-triazole (triazole derivatives)
- Cyanoguanidine (dicyandiamide), creatine, guanidine phosphates
- O-methylisourea and other fine chemicals
Cyanamide aqueous solution (especially 30%) is used extensively in the manufacture of intermediates such as dicyandiamide, cyanoguanidine, and methyl carbamate derivatives. It also finds application in non-toxic insecticides and plant growth regulation.
